Post-surgery Prophylaxis

• The HTC offered three treatment options to consider:

  –	Hospitalization for a week to allow 7 days of factor infusions (bolus or CI)
  –	Arrange home care to give him daily or BID infusions
  –	CI beginning in the hospital and continue at home

• Barriers to post-op care and planning:

  –	Lived alone, minimal support to assist with infusions
  –	Right-handed – inability to mix/self-infuse
  –	Financial issues led to winter seasonal work plowing snow He insisted on being able to work quickly post-op with the promise to limit use of his right hand
